Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton
wins the 2004 National Malcolm Baldrige Award

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. - "It is one thing to strive for quality, quite another to achieve it, and an even greater challenge to rise to the pinnacle of excellence. The Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton has reached this peak of quality performance as a 2004 winner of the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award - the highest honor a U.S. organization can receive for quality management and performance. RWJ Hamilton is the first New Jersey hospital to receive the award and one of only three health care institutions to have ever won the award.

Competing alongside respected hospitals from throughout the U.S., RWJ Hamilton excelled across a range of rigorous criteria measuring leadership, strategic planning, patient, customer and staff focus, and organizational performance. It is an outstanding achievement which speaks to the vision of inspired leadership, the commitment and depth of skilled physicians, surgeons, and health care professionals, and the talents and energies of dedicated staff.

This striving for quality is built into the Robert Wood Johnson Health Network's 'DNA', shaping our shared vision and driving our decisions. The Network joins with our member institutions in expressing our admiration and congratulations to RWJ Hamilton. As your colleagues and friends, we have a deep appreciation for the dedication, diligence and demand for excellence that was needed to earn it."
